January 22nd – Town Forest Information Meeting – 6:30 pm at Elementary School All community members are invited to this TOWN FOREST meeting (see below)
TOWN FOREST of Naches - Your Lions Club is taking the lead on a new community project. A vacant lot behind the Middle School, along side the Greenway path will be developed into an Urban Forest. Using methods developed by Japanese botanist, Dr. Akira Miyawaki, we will identify native trees and shrubs of our area, propagate about 1,400 of them and plant them densely. With special planning and care over about three years, a forest will grow that would have naturally taken over a decade to develop. All community members are invited to take part in this project. Please come to the Elementary School on Wednesday evening at 6:30 for more information.
CAMP PRIME TIME - We sponsor one of the first cabins at Camp Prime Time near Clear Lake. Each spring we clean and prepare the cabin for the summer camping season, do regular maintenance and upgrades, and close it for the winter in the fall. We are proud to be a small part of this wonderful service to families of children with serious illnesses.
CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS - Thanks to all the Lions and community friends who helped us make downtown Naches a festive place during the Holiday season. Lights, boughs, and bows were hung along the main street, and a continuous mural was painted on all the business fronts by the High School art class.
HOSPITAL EQUIPMENT - Our medical equipment loan program is available to people in need throughout the upper Yakima County, including Union Gap, Yakima, Selah, Naches, and the White and Chinook Pass areas. Email for more information.
See the Newsletter for more details about upcoming service opportunities.
